A marathon that starts beside the Colosseum and runs through two thousand years of history. We plan the trip so you can race it, not just tour it.

About this race

About Rome Marathon 2027

Run Rome The Marathon takes place on Sunday 14 March 2027, and the official site showed active registration at our last check. Few marathons pass this much history in 42 kilometers.

Recent editions started on Via dei Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum behind the start line and ran past landmarks such as St Peter’s, Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps. The total climb is modest, but several kilometers of historic cobblestones (sampietrini), many late in the race, make it a course where shoe choice and pacing matter more than the elevation profile suggests.

For travelling runners the hard part is not getting distracted by Rome. Visterra Runs plans a stay that makes the start easy, arrival timing after a transatlantic flight, and post-race days so sightseeing doesn’t cost you the race.
