About this race

About Houston Marathon & Half 2027

The Chevron Houston Marathon and the Aramco Houston Half Marathon take place together on Sunday 17 January 2027, and both had open registration at our last check. Because they share the same date, the same downtown base and the same race-week logistics, this one page covers both distances.

Houston is a performance race. The organizer promotes a flat, fast course, and in recent editions both races used a single downtown start and shared the route for the first miles before the Half split off. The George R. Brown Convention Center has served as the race-morning hub. That makes downtown the natural base for most runners: short walks on race morning and fewer moving parts.

Visterra Runs plans the trip around that downtown morning: a stay that suits the start, airport arrivals timed around your taper, and someone on WhatsApp to handle questions during the week.

Key facts

  • Both races are scheduled for Sunday 17 January 2027.
  • Distances: marathon (42.195 km) and half marathon (21.1 km), covered on one page because they share date, destination and logistics.
  • Registration was open at the last status check (1 October 2026).
  • In recent editions both races shared one downtown start line and the opening miles of the course before the Half split off.
  • The George R. Brown Convention Center has served as the race-morning hub in recent editions; the organizer describes the course as flat and fast.

Race week in Houston: what to plan for

Stay where race morning is short

Our recommendation for most runners is a downtown base so the start is reachable without depending on cars during road closures. We confirm walking distance and timing before you book.

Visterra recommendation

Arrive with the taper in mind

Houston has two major airports. We help you choose arrival timing and an airport that fit your flights without adding stress late in the taper.

Expo and pickup

We fit bib pickup into your first day in town so the day before the race stays free.
